VIES (VAT Information Exchange System) is the European Union service used to verify whether a VAT number is registered and valid for intra-EU transactions. It queries national tax administrations in real time and returns whether the number is valid, together with the business name and address when available.
VIES is not a public registry of all companies; some Member States may limit the data returned for privacy reasons. If the system is busy or a national service is temporarily unavailable, please try again later or contact the competent tax authority.
